No violence please!

Many people wouldn't think that having Toutettes is painful. However, there are many tics that are very painful.

Some of my tics that are painful include:

  • Sniffing and clenching my stomach in- this one kills, especially when I do it many times because I usually pull a muscle in my stomach whilst doing it
  • Shaking my head- this becomes tiring and if I shake it too hard then it really does hurt! It also makes me dizzy
  • Cracking my wrist- a lot of times when I do this, my wrist comes out of place so then I have to twist it back in and it isn't nice at all.
  • Touching my chin to the bottom of my neck- this hurts the back of my neck, especially when I do it excessively
  • Punching myself- I'm quite strong. Let's just say it really hurts
There's probably many others that I can't think of off the top of my head. Some I won't have done for ages and some will just come and go.

Toutettes is a mental illness. But it also affects sufferers physically. There are many people with really severe cases who end up in hospital due to them hurting themselves while ticcing. In many of these cases, the sufferer will be on medication for their Tourettes.

So please, please remember that tics do hurt.
