Misdiagnose

What really annoys me is that so many people don't actually get diagnosed with Tourettes. Many doctors just pass it off as allergies or just a habit that you have gotten into. I know from experience!

To anyone who has had tics for a year or more, thinks it falls into Tourettes Syndrome and hasn't been diagnosed, go to the doctors and tell them firmly. Meanwhile, never give up. You will get the diagnosis that you need. If one doctor refuses to refer you to a neurologist, see another doctor and see what they say.

Remember, you're not alone. So many people have been and are going through this situation. Mental health needs to have the same recongition with doctors as physical health. It's just as important.

Keep reminding yourself that Tourettes is not your fault. You can't help what you say or what noises you make. It just happens. It's quirky! Own your Tourettes. Anyone who says anything to you about your tics- tell them where they can go because you don't need that negativity in your life at all.

Keep smiling! Put your chin up and smile. Smiling can make you feel so much better.
