Not contagious
The stupidest question I have ever come across about Tourettes is: is Tourettes contagious?
To whoever would ever think of asking this, I want to clarify that Tourettes is not contagious. The definition of contagious is this:"spread from one person or organism to another, typically by direct contact."
Before anyone thinks that direct contact with a person with Tourettes will give them Tourettes, please, Jesus, think again. Tourettes is a neurological disorder and it is genetic. This means that you can't get it from touching someone with it. If your mum or dad have it, you are likely to have it as well. When I have children, they might have it. It's just a factor of genetics and which way it sways.
From what I have figured out (WARNING! Incoming biology), Tourettes is a dominant gene. Not recessive. I have thought this through because my dad said that when he was younger, he made noises but in the 1970's, no-one really knew about Tourettes. This means that he could have had Tourettes which explains why I have it. My mum didn't have it when she was younger which shows that there isn't a gene on her side that contains Tourettes. The dominant gene of Tourettes would have overpowered the recessive gene of my mum. A recessive gene is something that it only found in one persons genes and is weaker than other genes. Therefore, Tourettes is a dominant gene.
So to whoever thinks that Tourettes is contagious, please think again. It is genetic, it always has been and it always will be.
Joke of the day: "After dinner, my wife asked if I could clear the table. I needed a running start, but I made it!"
