Masks and Tourettes
I hate masks. I really do. It is so hard to breathe in them. I'm also claustrophobic which doesn't make it any better. What also doesn't help is that my deep inhaling tic makes it hard to breathe. So add all of them together and you get a very uncomfortable situtation. The situation I have got to handle when we go for a day trip to Bridlington on Wednesday. I can't wait to go but the coach journey is going to be absolutely horrible! I know that you're not meant to do the following, but I'm pulling it down so it's just over my mouth when I'm sat down.
What isn't fair though, is that I saw two people walk into Asda, I'd say mid-20s, and they weren't wearing a mask. I really doubt that they were both medically exempt. Anyway, what got me is how the staff didn't go up to them (well 2 metres from them) and ask why they weren't wearing one. A member of staff also didn't have a mask on! I went in the other day and I saw so many members of staff not wearing a mask and not social distancing. Why are they allowed to disobey the rules when no-one else is? It's not fair on anyone else at all. Especially the people who are struggling with the masks. Wearing masks doesn't protect yourselves, it protects others so others should wear a mask to protect you, especially if they are not medically exempt.
Wearing a mask is all well and good but in Holland, scientists have figured out that the masks don't help as much as people want you to believe they do. Yes, they stop you from coughing into the air and potentially spreading the virus if you have it unknowingly. However, scientists in Holland have said that there isn't any evidence that it helps prevent the spread of coronavirus. They also said that it could even harm the fight AGAINST corona. 120 countries have made it mandatory to wear masks in public spaces and on transport but the top scientists in Holland have said that face masks are not necessary.
Why wasn't this face covering rule brought in when corona first started? We didn't have to wear one in shops, we just had to abide to one in one out rule in the shops and the 2 metre rule. It doesn't make sense.
I think the list for people who are medically exempt from wearing masks should definately include people with Tourettes and people with clasutrophobia. It would help so many people and shopping wouldn't be such a horrible thing to do anymore.
